Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition Nintendo Switch Aug. 8

Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition just might take over your life on Aug. 8 when it arrives on Nintendo Switch. The news comes from developer Obsidian and publisher Versus Evil, and it will cost $49.99 / €49.99 / £44.99. Only an eShop release is planned, but with the way Limited Run Games is releasing everything under the sun these days, you never know what could happen down the line.

Pillars of Eternity originally released on PC back in March 2015 following one of the first extremely successful Kickstarter campaigns for a video game. Its goal was to bring back the classic style of western RPG gameplay of Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment that had seemingly fallen by the wayside. The positive critical reception suggests the game succeeded in its goal, and it was ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.

I did actually buy Pillars of Eternity eventually, but I didn’t get very far. For as much as I love JRPGs, I sometimes have a hard time wrapping my head around the mechanics of western RPGs. I just wasn’t able to enjoy the game’s combat, which is a shame since the story seemed engaging. If you’re not a weirdo like me, I’m sure you’ll love Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition on Switch!
