pokemon bdsp grand underground

During today’s Pokémon Presents we got a new trailer for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, or BDSP for short. Although these upcoming Switch remakes are “faithfully reproduced,” that doesn’t mean they’re 1-1 copies. The new footage showed off a mix of revamped, returning features and brand new ideas. For starters, the famous Sinnoh Underground is returning as the new and improved Grand Underground, and you can check it out in the trailer below!

Grand Underground

The Pokémon Presents and official website revealed more info on the new and returning features, including the Grand Underground. As in the original, it’s a vast maze spread out beneath the entire region. Returning features include digging for treasures and Pokémon Fossils as well as creating your own Secret Base. Pokémon statues have also been added as a possible reward for digging with your sledgehammer and pickax.

The Grand Underground in Pokémon BDSP also has some new features, such as Pokémon Hideaways. These come in a variety of different terrains ranging from still-water caverns to volcanic landscapes, and each one houses different Pokémon suited to that environment. Some Pokémon are exclusive to these Hideaways, and you can influence which Pokémon show up in them with the statues you place in your Secret Base.

Other new and revamped features

Other fan-favorite features that are returning with tweaks include Pokéball stickers for customization, the Union Room for trades and battles, and Super Contest Shows. One feature that’s all-new is the ability to customize your look. In Pokémon BDSP, you’ll be able to visit Style Shops to buy new pants, shirts, hats, shoes, and more!
