pokémon platinum nintendo switch

At long last, Sinnoh remakes were finally confirmed today with the reveal of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. These Nintendo Switch-bound games are shaping up to be faithful but modernized recreations of the 2006 DS classics. Though I am eager to start anew in Twinleaf Town, there are a few things I hope the remakes will include this time around when they launch later this year. Chief among them, I’m itching for Pokémon Platinum content and proper inclusion of those games’ Mystery Gift events.

When Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire came to 3DS, they weren’t just retellings of the Game Boy Advance originals. Pokémon Emerald star Rayquaza received a dedicated post-game campaign called the Delta Episode, featuring the Sky Tower and Deoxys. It stands to reason that Giratina, master of the Distortion World, should receive similar treatment if the remakes’ main story focuses on Dialga and Palkia again. With Generation 4 back under the spotlight, Pokémon Platinum should not go unloved.

On top of Giratina, there are also the Mystery Gift Pokémon; Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus each had little quests expanding the Sinnoh region that much more. It would be fantastic to have these woven into the base game’s narrative somehow!
