Generation 4 will be getting a ton of love for Pokémon‘s 25th anniversary. Not only will fans be receiving remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, but 2022 will see an open-world adventure set in the Sinnoh region’s past. The game is called Pokémon Legends Arceus and seems to be taking some inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. You can check out the trailer below.
Pokémon Legends Arceus will shake things up a little and allow you to choose Cyndaquil, Oshawott or Rowlet as your starter Pokémon. You will be able to explore an open world with your trainer, catching various Pokémon and heading out on a quest to create the world’s first Pokédex. There are also some new mechanics available such as being able to hide and seamlessly capture Pokémon from a distance. From the trailer, the game’s world seems to be similar to the Wild Area from Sword and Shield but with more things going on. Obviously, we will also be exploring a story surrounding the Legendary Pokémon Arceus, with a small teaser presented at the end.
As the game is set in the past, the aesthetic is a series first for Pokémon. The presentation seems to imply that there is a lot of inspiration from Japan’s earlier years, which makes sense for the prequel setting it’s going for. Pokémon Legends Arceus will launch for Nintendo Switch in early 2022, being the first game to launch earlier in the year since 2011. Are you excited for this new adventure?
