Everybody seemed to dig the Levi’s x Super Mario collection last year, so the clothing brand is back, this time collaborating with another mega franchise. The Levi’s x Pokémon collection has been announced, and it will be available starting Feb. 15 at levi.com. A variety of clothing has been revealed already, though seemingly only with Japanese price tags attached. The Levi’s x Pokémon collection contains the likes of trucker jackets, denim jeans, hats, beanies, T-shirts, and more, and there is a classic Kanto emphasis. There is plenty of Pikachu, and there is an outfit that lets you just literally dress like Misty (albeit with a cute Togepi on the top).
Predictably, none of this stuff will come cheap. A matching jacket and pants adds up to roughly $300, going by the Japanese pricing, for instance. The “Pokémon Unisex Tee Sleeping Pikachu White” is verging on $40 by itself. I suppose this is the “price of fashion” (which I presume is a synonym for price gouging).
The Levi’s x Pokémon collection looks as nice as you would expect, vaguely stylish in a nostalgia / nerd-culture sort of way. My Project Runway education of fashion doesn’t allow me to go into any further depth on the subject than that though.
What do you think of the collection?
