Today The Pokémon Company International revealed that its upcoming animated film based on the origin of Ash and Pikachu will be making a limited release to theaters as a result of an agreement with Fathom Events.

It’s said that the story revolves around Ash and Pikachu’s first experience together as they search for the legendary bird Pokémon, Ho-Oh. Whilst meeting new friends and (of course) enemies along the way.

The Vice President of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International said this film is for a new generation of Pokemon fans who are not familiar with the late 90’s animated TV series. A quote follows:

“As an origin story, Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! is the perfect way for a new generation of Pokémon fans to experience the beginning of Ash and Pikachu’s friendship, and it offers longtime fans an exciting new look into the start of their epic adventures.”

Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! will be in theaters on November 5 and November 6. Showtimes and special offers have not been announced — information will be available in the near future.
