Pokémon Sword and Shield review cut moves missing moves

Earlier this morning, the review embargo on Pokémon Sword & Shield lifted. A few outlets have since been able to share their thoughts, but you may have noticed that several–Nintendo Enthusiast included–have not published anything. Currently, only eighteen reviews are on Metacritic (where the games currently hold mostly positive reception and an overall score of 81). The reason for this? A whole bunch of review codes are not being sent out until the game’s release this Friday.

Normally, so that reviews can be published on or before the release date, codes will be sent out to press sites well in advance, especially for lengthier games like Pokémon Sword & Shield. We are not sure why codes are being held this time around–perhaps someone in charge got spooked by all of the leaks that broke last week–but the end result is a crop of delayed reviews.

Regardless, we’re taking this one in stride, planning all sorts of content surrounding Pokémon Sword & Shield once that code is in our hands. We’ve got a reviewer all lined up and ready to dive in. We’ll get our impressions out to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, we’ve just got to ask that you join us in sitting tight.
