After being teased last month, a full trailer for Pokémon the Movie: Coco has been released. The trailer comes hot on the heels of Zarude‘s reveal, mainly because it features in the film. Pokémon the Movie: Coco launches in Japan this July. The trailer makes us want a western version much sooner than is probably planned.
The new Pokémon movie stars Ash Ketchum as he explores a forest full of Pokémon. Along the way he encounters Coco, who appears to be someone who was raised by Pokémon after being discovered by a shiny Celebi. Given that Celebi can travel through time, it’s possible that we’ll see this rare variant throughout the story.
At some point something disastrous hits the forest. Coco plays the protector, saving as many Pokémon as possible from the falling debris. Zarude swoops in at the last second to save Coco, indicating that it too had a role to play in his upbringing. It’s hard to watch the trailer and not immediately think of Tarzan, but it also presents an interesting new concept for the Pokémon world. Coco reportedly believes that he actually is a Pokémon, making Ash perhaps the first contact with humans he’s had.
What do you think of Pokémon the Movie: Coco so far?
