PowerA has been delivering solid Nintendo Switch accessories for some time now. They’ve created a bunch of cheaper Pro Controller alternatives with various Nintendo-themed designs, amongst other accessories. Now, they’ve created an officially licensed controller with motion control functionality, wireless connectivity via bluetooth, mappable buttons on the rear, and, crucially, a built-in rechargeable battery. It’s named the Nano Enhanced Wireless Controller.
This PowerA creation is available in two color schemes: a standard black version with gray buttons and a gray controller with blue and red buttons, mimicking the neon Switch’s color scheme. Both look very similar in overall build and shape to a standard Pro Controller but retail for $20 less, at $50 apiece. Sadly, the Nano Enhanced Wireless Controller doesn’t support rumble.
Even so, this is a step up from most of PowerA’s older range. The company’s previous themed controllers are available in wired and wireless form, but they always utilized standard AA batteries for wireless play. The Nano Enhanced Wireless Controller comes bundled with a 10-foot USB-C cable, a nice addition for a third-party controller. Next time, we hope PowerA opts to overcome the two remaining hurdles, namely, HD rumble and (pretty unlikely) analog triggers for racing games.
The PowerA Nano Enhanced Wireless Controller is available to preorder now.
