Prehistoric Dude launches on the Nintendo Switch eShop on Aug. 14 from developer lightUp and publisher Ratalakia Games. It’s a “mini Metroidvania” with a pretty straightforward story. A dinosaur stole Dude’s lunch. Now you have to help him traverse the extremely dangerous world to get it back. Simple, right?
Being a mini Metroidvania, you can probably think of Prehistoric Dude as more of a palette cleanser between larger games. Maybe try squeezing it in-between the likes of Paper Mario: The Origami King and Xenoblade Chronicles. The game accordingly only costs $4.99.
Dude is a ham-loving caveman with little else to worry about. So when his lunch gets nicked, you can guess what he’s going to do. Naturally he’s going to chase that purloined luncheon meat all the way through three different scenarios, each of which presents its own challenges and with some cool bosses. Along the way you’ll see Dude master new skills to help him traverse the environment and battle some dinosaurs.
There are also seven unique items to collect and master throughout your journey, and the game features some vibrant 8-bit-ish graphics with a pleasant chiptune soundtrack. It could be perfect for an evening’s gaming.
Are you ready to be the dude in Prehistoric Dude on Nintendo Switch?
