SEGA has dropped a massive bomb—the next Sonic game has finally been revealed. Dubbed “Project Sonic 2017”, the trailer for the new game shows off Modern Sonic teaming up with his Classic counterpart. Of course, this is not the first time this has happened.

Sonic’s last anniversary game, Sonic Generations, introduced the dynamic duo to each other. Despite this striking similarity, according to Sonic Team’s leader Takashi Iizuka, the new game is something “not a sequel . . . it is completely new and original”.

It should be interesting to see exactly how things turn out. There’s no telling when we’ll be introduced to the new project again, but we do know that it releases towards the end of next year.
