Publisher Skybound Games and developer ManaVoid Entertainment are bringing nonviolent 2.5D platformer / puzzle adventure / RPG / monster collector (yes, it’s a lot of genres) Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and it has a new PC demo as part of Steam Next Fest. You will be hopping around various attractive environments while also engaging in turn-based encounters where you collect more than 60 creatures through empathy rather than pulverizing.
Here is the premise of the game: “When the evil Leviathan curses the World of Imagination with monochrome misery, its residents are left joyless, anxiety-ridden husks of their former selves. Armed with kindness, a talking fishing rod, and countless friends, the shy, cheerful Billy must travel the land and inspire others to find the courage to be themselves and show their true colors once more.”
Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan is about providing a nonviolent alternative to other similar such games that emphasizes the power of communication, which we could always use more of in this day and age. This ManaVoid Entertainment title makes for an interesting publishing choice for Skybound Games, which is the video game wing of Robert Kirkman’s Skybound Entertainment. Kirkman is the co-creator of The Walking Dead and Invincible, among many other things, but Skybound Games is picking up a wide range of titles.
Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan will launch “soon” on Nintendo Switch and its other platforms.
