podcast charity Reggie Fils-aime

Reggie Fils-Aime made a big name for himself in the video game industry as Nintendo of America’s President. His business savvy and larger-than-life personality made him one of the more popular executives in gaming. Almost exactly one year ago, Reggie stepped down from Nintendo, but he’s been busy ever since. He took a teaching job at Cornell, presented at The Game Awards, and even joined the GameStop Board of Directors. His next venture: raising money for charity with a podcast.

Reggie Fils-Aime joins a podcast

The above list is only a fraction of what Reggie Fils-Aime has been up to in the past year. We reported last year that he had joined the Board of Advisors for the New York Videogame Critics Circle. this group provides scholarships and mentorship programs to New York students.  Today, he announced he’s teaming up with Harold Goldberg, that same group’s president, for a new podcast. Talking Games with Reggie and Harold is planned for a seven-episode run, and the first guest on the show is Geoff Keighley, creator of The Game Awards. Future episodes will feature interns in this mentorship program, as well as “high-profile executives and developers” in the video game industry.

A charity close to the heart of gamers

Reggie Fils-Aime and Harold Goldberg will use this podcast as a platform to raise money via GoFundMe. The proceeds will go towards providing video game-related services to homeless youths in New York. This includes providing homeless shelters with games and consoles, as well as providing video game journalism and video game narrative-writing classes. They also plan to release their games journalism classes online for free in the future.
