Reggie Fils-Aime SXSW 2020 keynote speaker

Reggie Fils-Aimé officially retired as Nintendo of America’s President back in April. Reggie’s enjoying some time off with his family, but he’s also staying active. Since retiring he has given the commencement speech at  Ringling College, chimed in on the violent video game debate, and accepted a teaching job at Cornell. Retired or not, he’s staying busy! That trend will continue into next year, as Reggie has just announced his next major public appearance. He’ll be giving a keynote speech at SXSW 2020!

SXSW 2020 welcomes Reggie Fils-Aimé

Jordan Roberts, Senior Content Marketing Manager at SXSW, made the announcement today, and Reggie confirmed it on Twitter. He’ll be joined by musician/actress Kim Gordon as the initial keynote speakers, with more to be announced later. Hugh Forrest, Chief Programming Office for SXSW, praised Reggie as a “captivating speaker” in the initial announcement.

We’re kicking off the 2020 season with a captivating group of speakers. From Keynotes Reggie Fils-Aimé, who oversaw Nintendo of America during its most successful era, and Kim Gordon, a creative virtuoso whose passion and achievements have paved the way for others, to our diverse range of expert Featured Speakers, these talents prove that SXSW is the premier destination for innovation and creative discovery. We’ve also added new tracks and more programming to the second half of the week, as our event evolves to reflect the continued convergence of the industries that gather here.

Reggie seems excited about the opportunity, calling SXSW the “premier event for leading-edge thinkers”.  It’s not clear at this time what Reggie’s speech will be about, but we’re looking forward to it. SXSW 2020 kicks off on March 13 and lasts through March 22.
