Smash Bros. Ultimate has myriad controller options. Joy-Con, Pro Controller, Hori Nintendo Battle Pad…there’s good variety on offer. And, if you were lucky enough to snag one, you can also use the Smash Bros. Ultimate GameCube controller. A variant of it was once available for the Wii U, but this accessory was also purchasable for the Switch. However, it is now rare. Luckily, it looks like the device is relaunching in January.

It’s relaunching in time for my birthday!

A listing for the controller popped up for pre-order on the Nintendo UK Store today but was swiftly removed. However, the internet never forgets:

According to the listing, the pad is relaunching late January 2020. Hopefully, it will come to multiple regions. Especially because prices for the device are quite high at the moment. In addition, you need a special adapter, though that’s way easier to find.

I was one of the lucky gamers who purchased the Super Smash Bros. Bundle for Wii U. It contained the game, the GCN controller, and the GCN to Wii U adapter. I still bust out the peripherals to play Ultimate, though it is a bit cumbersome to set up. The clickety clackety of the gadget makes me feel at home.

Enthusiasts, what is your preferred controller setup for Smash Bros. Ultimate? Let us know how you choose to duke it out below.
