March Nintendo Direct deep in progress / development report Indie World also possible

Update: VentureBeat has updated its article to say a new indie showcase event is “likely” for March 18, and a full Nintendo Direct is “likely” for March 26.

Original follows:

The last Nintendo Direct was on Sept. 4, 2019. It has been 188 days since then, making for a drought that has the Nintendo faithful going… a little batty. However, VentureBeat is reporting that, according to its sources, Nintendo is “deep into the process” of putting together a March Nintendo Direct. “Many” third-party games to be included in the video have reportedly been selected as well. Although, VB also states it’s possible another Indie World presentation could precede a new Direct.

This is hopeful, but at the same time, it’s not ironclad by any means. For one thing, VB spends an entire section of its article outlining “proof” that a Direct is likely to happen this month, but if their sources were absolutely certain of a Direct this month — there probably wouldn’t be a need for further evidence. There is definitely still an element of speculation here as to whether it will be a March Nintendo Direct and not (God forbid) an April Direct.

On the bright side, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX just released, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons arrives on March 20 as well. So we do have some things to tide us over and keep from turning feral. For now.

Let us hear your hopeful, cautious, angry thoughts on this one.
