Here is some good news Nintendo was surely looking for after the successful launch of Mario Kart 8. According to a new report, Wii U sales were up 666% week-over-week in the UK after the game launched. In fact, 88% of all Wii U consoles sold last week were the Mario Kart 8 Wii U bundle, linking the hardware increase directly to Mario Kart 8.

The report also says that Mario Kart 8 had the second best launch in the franchise’s history in the UK, despite the Wii U’s dismal install base. The report also says that Mario Kart 8 outsold the 360 and PS3 versions of Watch Dogs. Not too shabby, Mario Kart, not too shabby.

Mario Kart 8 launched worldwide last week, garnering critical praise. Our very own Jonathon Harrington praised the game, giving it a 9/10. Make sure to check out his full review, then let us know your full thoughts on Mario Kart 8 in the comments section below!
