It’s finally here, the first trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has been released and it looks like we’re in for some frights. The live-action film is directed and written by Johannes Roberts, who has previously stated that the goal is to capture the essence of the first two Resident Evil games. That is seemingly accurate from our first proper look at Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, as we iconic locations such as the Raccoon City Police Department and the haunting Spencer Mansion. From what I can tell, the film will likely jump between important narrative beats featured in the first two games; however, this may be concerning for hardcore fans of the series. You can watch the first trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City below.
Despite my initial reservations when the film was announced, I’m now somewhat excited to see what’s in store for us. One scene towards the end of the trailer really intrigued me, so I’ll let you figure that one out for yourself. In August, first-look images of the film were shared in an exclusive interview with IGN, which received mixed reactions from fans. However, some of those negative reactions may be reversed now that we’ve seen the film in action. In that same interview, Roberts also revealed that Lisa Trevor from the original Resident Evil will be a “pivotal” character.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be invading theatres in the U.S on November 24, while fans in the U.K will need to wait until December 3. What are your thoughts on the Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City trailer?
