River City Girls 2 0 Zero Limited Run Games WayForward Nintendo Switch announcement reveal

During the Limited Run Games showcase today, WayForward announced River City Girls 2, and it and River City Girls Zero will both receive a Limited Run physical release on Nintendo Switch. River City Girls 2 will additionally receive a physical release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. WayForward explains that the game will launch on consoles and PC in 2022 with the return of Misako, Kyoko, Kunio, Riki, and new playable characters, plus two-player online co-op. There does not appear to be a trailer for the game yet.

River City Girls Zero, meanwhile, is a localization of the 1994 Super Famicom game, Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka, but with a new anime opening and manga cutscenes. In essence, it’s a game you could probably grab off an emulator website right now, but now you’ll be able to obtain the game legally in English and support the developers when it launches on Switch in late 2021.

If you’re a River City fan or a Limited Run Games enthusiast, then these physical announcements for River City Girls 2 and River City Girls Zero are a fantastic thing. We thoroughly enjoyed the first title with its spectacular pixel art, anyway. Stay tuned for more Limited Run announcements. There are some that will make your eyes pop.
