Rocket League Art

It’s been five years since Rocket League launched on PC, and you could say it’s been quite a success. The mashup of football (okay, “soccer”…), racing, and arena battling is a unique one, and the game has only grown since 2015. Of course, the Switch version launched a while after the fact in November 2017. Even so, an anniversary update will soon arrive on all platforms.

The update contains a mixture of fun party dress-ups and limited-time modes. When the event begins on June 30, you’ll start earning balloons from online matches. These act as a currency for the special event store, where you can pick up items with your collected balloons. You’ll even find a party horn boost and some frosted cake banners and avatars to get you into the partying mood. Golden eggs also return to the event store, giving players a chance to grab items from previous championship series.

As for the core gameplay, this update will introduce some limited-time modes. Spike Rush and 2v2 Heatseeker will come into rotation within the event, but both have set times for going live. Spike Rush will be playable June 30 to July 6, after which 2v2 Heatseeker will move in from July 6 to July 13.

Are you still playing Rocket League five years on?
