The Sonic the Hedgehog movie has led a challenged life. Specifically, its very existence has been challenged, and Sonic’s design was challenged by internet commenters so severely that Paramount almost immediately promised to redo his appearance. Not so surprisingly, the movie was then delayed, from Nov. 8, 2019 to Feb. 14, 2020. However, the official Sonic movie Twitter bio now reads that the movie will release in “March 2020.” It’s been delayed again?
BULLETIN (h/t @AndreTelevise) – the official Sonic movie Twitter account now lists a March 2020 release date. We are working to confirm. If accurate, it would be the second delay for the movie. pic.twitter.com/sRsFbgwsTA

An official announcement has not been made to support this, so it’s possible this is just some typo made by a social media manager. However, even a cursory glance at the Sonic movie Twitter page reveals how contradictory the whole page is. The header image still reads “11.08.19,” the original release date, and the pinned tweet still references the November release date as well. One might argue that the Sonic the Hedgehog movie Twitter page is the worst place to be getting news about the movie’s release date.
It’s yet another blip in the movie’s tumultuous existence. Personally, I can’t muster any excitement for this movie since — regardless of Sonic’s physical appearance — I just think the movie itself looks bad. But like any time I have a negative outlook, I’d be happy to be proven wrong. I hope this movie ends up being something that casual audiences and hardcore fans alike can enjoy.
