The latest NPD report was set to release recently but was delayed for unknown reasons. However, some info has allegedly been leaked, thus revealing the hardware sales numbers for each platform. If these numbers are true, then the news bodes very well for the Switch.

According to the rumored numbers, it turns out the Switch sold 284,000 units throughout January 2019 in the US. Meanwhile, the PS4 score 195,000, and the Xbox One sold the least at 101,000. While these are all great numbers for each system, the fact that the Switch sold 89,000 more units than that of the PS4 is quite impressive. In fact, if these alleged results turn out to be legitimate, this would mean that the Switch would now hold the record with the NPD for the most amount of units sold in the month of January. Not a huge milestone, but still a notable one nonetheless. For comparison, the PS4 still officially holds this record as of January 2014 where it sold 274,000 units throughout the month.

The Nintendo Switch has been selling remarkably well since it first debuted in early 2017, and it looks like it has yet to run out of steam should this report turn out to be true. Hopefully, the official results will be published within the next few days, then we’ll know for sure. Until then, however, this data should be taken as a rumor.
