Unless someone’s a really hardcore Shin Megami Tensei fan, we can all agree today was the best Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase by a wide margin. It showcased so many Nintendo Switch games that a lot of people can get genuinely excited for, from Monster Hunter and even more Monster Hunter to Disgaea 6 and Balan Wonderworld. But hey, let’s not forget about scrappy game series like Marvelous and XSEED Games’ Rune Factory series. Rune Factory 5 has received a new trailer, declaring a vague 2021 release date. It will release in spring in Japan.
In Rune Factory 5, you play as a man or woman who (shockingly) has lost their memories, which means you get to just start over in life as a “peacekeeping ranger” in the rural village of Rigbarth. When you aren’t keeping the peace, you’ll be keeping up the chores instead — harvesting crops, fishing at the river, and getting involved in the local festivals. Romance will play into the proceedings too, because it just makes life more fun. And gameplay-wise, the standout is new combo attacks performed with allies to defeat monsters.
That’s just about all Marvelous and XSEED Games have to share about Rune Factory 5 at this time, but this trailer is enough to whet appetites till later in 2021.
