SaGa Frontier Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch next week, but for now, Square Enix released a launch gameplay trailer that covers all eight main characters, including the new addition Fuse.
The classic 1998 PlayStation RPG, SaGa Frontier, originally featured seven protagonists, each with their own storyline. Square’s idea was to offer a non-linear “Free-Form Scenario System” that allows players to freely travel and advance through the story. As the gameplay launch trailer outlines, SaGa Frontier Remastered will feature eight playable characters, including the InterRegional Police Organization patrolman Fuse as a new protagonist. Fuse was initially planned for the original game, but resources didn’t allow for it. Additionally, the remaster will have other cut content including event scenes that never made it into Asellus’ story.
All eight characters, including Asellus, Blue, Emelia, Lute, Red, Riki, T260G, and Fuse, have different goals and endings. Your choices affect how the events unfold, but this time we’ll see more that didn’t make it for the original PlayStation version. Particularly, Fuse will be able to participate in everyone else’s storylines to reveal new facets of the story, and there is also a New Game+ feature.
