Following the big reveal of Sora from Kingdom Hearts joining Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai took a moment to express his gratitude for the “thank you” hashtag (#ThankYouSakurai) that fans around the world have been tweeting.

Here’s the tweet from Sakurai and a translation of what it says:

I saw that the hashtag for #ThankYouSakurai was trending.

I should be the one to be grateful, truly.

It is the result of support from so many people!

Now that all of the characters of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate have been revealed, it feels somewhat bittersweet that we won’t have any more of these presentations for a while. In any case, the man has certainly earned himself some well-deserved rest. On behalf of all of us here, thank you, Sakurai!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is immediately available for Nintendo Switch. Sora will join the game as its final DLC character as Challenger Pack 11 of Fighters Pass 2 on October 18, 2021. In case you missed it, the Kingdom Hearts series is also coming to the Nintendo Switch in the near future as Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece for Cloud. It will contain Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III as cloud versions for Switch.
