Sam Jackson / Samuel L. Jackson kicks ass, takes names for Reggie Fils-Aime

When the iconic Reggie Fils-Aime first announced himself to the video game world at Nintendo E3 2004, he said, “My name is Reggie. I’m about kickin’ ass, I’m about takin’ names, and we’re about makin’ games.” Sadly, Reggie finally stepped down as President of Nintendo of America this year, replaced by Doug Bowser. That begs the question: Who will kick ass now? The answer makes perfect sense: Sam Jackson.

Yes, Geoff Keighley has invited Samuel L. Jackson to E3 to kick asses and take names instead. And even better? Reggie is down with it! Check out the interaction in the tweets below, where Jackson articulates exactly what he’ll be doing (with bleeped out language).

Okay, yeah, some guy named Myth is there too. Honestly? I don’t care about him. The cool thing is that Sam Jackson has embodied the spirit of a beloved Nintendo hero!

And okay, yes, it’s so obvious that this whole display is just a carefully crafted Shaft advertisement. But dangit, Geoff Keighley, you did it masterfully, and my hat is off to you. Besides, who doesn’t like Shaft? I bet you like Shaft even if you’re too young to know who he is.

Oh, and by the way, Keighley had something to say about Reggie’s response…

Mother 3 for US confirmed, baby!
