sirfetch'd pokémon sword

Yesterday, The Pokémon Company confirmed that new Pokémon Sword and Shield news would come in this morning. As they say, the early bird gets the worm, with said bird being none other than a highly anticipated evolution for the Kanto region’s Farfetch’d! With the tongue-in-cheek glitch on the official website sorted out, trainers-to-be in Galar now got their first look at Sirfetch’d.

Standing tall as a pure Fighting type, the Wild Duck Pokémon Sirfetch’d are evolved forms of seasoned Farfetch’d who survived many battles. Its ability, Steadfast, boosts its Speed every time it flinches. On top of that, Sirfetch’d also knows a signature move called Meteor Assault! Unfortunately, this powerful attack bears the same drawback as Hyper Beam, whereas Sirfetch’d can’t follow up with an attack on the next turn. Its Pokédex description also notes that when its leek wilts, it will withdraw from battle.

Oddly enough, Sirfetch’d also appears to be exclusive to Pokémon Sword; Pokémon Shield players will need to trade with Sword users to pad out their Pokédex accordingly. However, this begs the question: what Pokémon would Sirfetch’d play opposite to in Shield?

In any case, let us know what you think of Farfetch’d’s brand new evolution in the comments!
