Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition release date January 2021 Ubisoft Forward

The cult classic beat ’em up repackage, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition, is officially now coming next year. Complete Edition was previously revealed at the second of this year’s Ubisoft Forward events and initially scheduled to drop for the holiday season. The short delay pushes it to Jan. 14, when it launches on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

The story of this game is strange. It launched in the age of Xbox 360 Arcade, a program that saw a bunch of digital-only, smaller titles come to market. It came to PlayStation Network on PlayStation 3 too, but the game suddenly disappeared from both storefronts in late 2014. There’s been speculation since on what the cause of delisting was, with the obvious music license issues suggested as the problem for some time. This was debunked by the music creator though, and to this day it’s not completely clear what happened.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition is indeed coming though, delivering 2D beat ’em up action to a new generation, including on Nintendo Switch. Complete Edition also contains the Knives Chau and Wallace Wells DLC packs, which were add-ons to the original. If you missed out on the original or just want to play it on the go on Switch, here’s your opportunity.
