SEGA Ages Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Knuckles the Echidna

Sega has been consistently dropping old-school classics of theirs on the Nintendo Switch through a line of special releases titled Sega Ages. Obscure titles like Gain Ground and Ichidant-R get a second shot at life through the release platform, but major Sega hits are often released through it as well. Sega Ages Sonic the Hedgehog released back in 2018, and now fans can look forward to the sequel joining the Sega Ages lineup soon. Even better, though, is that Sega Ages Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to bring back the playable Knuckles campaign from the original Sega Genesis release of the game.

Back on the Sega Genesis, if fans inserted their Sonic the Hedgehog 2 cartridge on top of a copy of Sonic & Knuckles, they would be able to access an exclusive version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 using “Lock-On Technology” where you get to play as Knuckles the Echidna. The name of this special Lock-On game? Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Now, fans who pick up Sega Ages Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be able to access this once hardware-locked bonus campaign as a free inclusion with their purchase of the new digital release.

Sega Ages Sonic the Hedgehog 2 doesn’t yet have a release date.
