Sega of America is bringing Sonic anniversary merchandise for the Sonic the Hedgehog 30th anniversary, including POP vinyl, toys, jewelry.

Sega is hosting a livestream later today, Jan. 14, on its Twitch channel. The company hasn’t alluded to any specific details on what will be shown, but the announcement tweet says it’ll be “something special.” No timings have been revealed either, but Sega Europe did just send out a new tweet talking about showing off new Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 content today. It’s not yet certain if that is the something special or if something else is coming for the ride.

The year 2021 marks Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary, so we’re expecting big things from the blue hedgehog this year. It may be a little early in the year to be announcing a major Sonic project, but you just never know do you.

Having said that, it’s best to keep your expectations in check with Sega Europe. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 could very well be all there is at this point (not that there’s anything wrong with that game! We think it’s great!).

What we really want though is a huge blowout of Sonic news on a random Thursday in January, because why the hell not. There’s no time like the present, and a big surprise like this would be a great way to kick off 2021. Let’s wait and see though, when Sega’s livestream takes place later today on Twitch.
