September was a great month for Nintendo. The Switch beat out its two main competitors in sales for the third month in a row, and fifth month of the seven it’s been on the market. This system is a hit, regardless of what some gamers say.

In terms of Switch software, there’s some great information here. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle came in at #7, with Zelda: Breath of the Wild at #10, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #11.

On the 3DS front, Nintendo is still doing well. Metroid: Samus Returns launched to #8, which is impressive for the franchise on a system that has a declining popularity.

Leading into the big holiday months, Nintendo is on top. We’ll see if Xbox One X can shake things up. If not, Nintendo looks to maintain control of the market through 2017 and into 2018, where we are likely getting games such as Pokemon for Switch, Metroid Prime 4, and other big first party titles along with AAA third party games and consisten indie support.
