Shantae and the Seven Sirens has had an interesting journey toward release. The highly anticipated follow-up to the Kickstarter-funded Wayforward revival of the series, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, was revealed back in August of 2019. The title was set to have a multi-platform release near the end of 2019, but fans were surprised to see the game available early in iOS devices when Apple Arcade launched in October. While the first half of the game was fully playable through the service, the full release was delayed to sometime in 2020. Now, we know exactly when fans can expect to get their hands on the full experience, as the multi-console release of Shantae and the Seven Sirens is set to arrive on May 28.
A beefy new trailer for the game shared the updated release plans for the hip-shaking action platformer, along with looks at the new levels, transformations, and boss fights of the game. Shantae and the Seven Sirens looks as gorgeous as ever, with crisp hand-drawn sprites, vivid particle effects and even fully animated cutscenes.
Shantae and the Seven Sirens is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 28, with the 2nd half of the game being added to the Apple Arcade release on the same day.
