Shaymin 4-star photo guide for New Pokémon Snap

I’m not as familiar with Shaymin as I am the other Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in New Pokémon Snap. What I do know, however, is that it’s one of the cutest Pokémon in the entire roster. The process of finding its 4-star pose requires a lot of specific actions in a fairly short time frame, and thus it can be easily missed without a bit of effort. The real trouble here though is actually getting the game to recognize the picture when you get it, making this one of the most annoying photos to get. If you’re having trouble getting the 4-star Shaymin photo, use this New Pokémon Snap guide to get it!

Surprisingly, I was actually able to find Shaymin before beating the game. If you want an early picture, head to Florio Illumina Spot Level 2, and a little into the level just beyond the first tree, you should see a small cliff. If you throw an Illumina Orb up there, you should see Shaymin run over to the edge of the cliff, where you can get a quick 1-star photo. Further, if you take a picture of Meganium talking to Shaymin, Shaymin will start riding on the head of Meganium through the rest of the course!

In order to get the 4-star Shaymin photo though, you’ll need to head to Park (Day) at Research Level 3. Follow the course until you round the last curve into the final field of flowers. In making this turn, you should see Scorbunny, Grookey, Pichu, and Shaymin run down the path ahead of you. You do not need to take pictures of them prior to this point, though you can find Shaymin in the grass near the Pichu and Grookey just before this for a 3-star picture.

Upon making that turn, take a picture of Grookey and Scorbunny, who should both be in the middle of the path. You should see a flower bush on the left-hand side, so throw an Illumina Orb in there to find Flower Crown Pichu. Lastly, on the right side near the Florges, you’ll need to hit the Crystabloom with an Illumina Orb to wake up Shaymin. Doing these things will push the four Pokémon near the last Crystabloom on the left, just before the exit portal. Light up this final flower for your photo chance. It can be hard to get the image here because the game often tries to say you’re taking a picture of the Crystabloom, but if you can get it to register, you should hopefully be able to get the 4-star Shaymin photo!
