Shin Megami Tensei V video introduces new ways to power up and characters

Atlus has revealed more new characters and new ways to power up stats and skills in the second Shin Megami Tensei V (SMTV) news program video. The second news program video starts with introducing three new characters: Shohei Yakumo, Nuwa, and Abdiel.

The first character is Shohei Yakumo, a mysterious man who stands in the way of the protagonist in Da’at. He labels himself “he who hunts all demons,” and his motives are unknown. He seems to work together with the demon Nuwa, who is the second character introduced. “Nuwa, Lady” is a goddess straight out of Chinese mythology. She’s been working together with Yakumo since a young age to fulfill an unknown goal. She appears before the protagonist and attacks him out of nowhere. The third character is Abdiel, the Archangel and Bethel’s Deputy Angel Commander. Abdiel oversees Bethel’s headquarters. She’s stern, uncompromising, and would eradicate just about anyone who is a threat to the order of Bethel. She’s completely devoted to God and is committed to defending his order, no matter what it takes. Each of these characters will likely complicate your Shin Megami Tensei V experience.

The second part of the SMTV video is about the new stat and skill-building features, introducing different ways to power up. While exploring Da’at, you’ll find “Essences,” spiritual entities embedded with the power of demons. When a demon drops an Essence, it has that particular demon’s skills and affinities infused within it. By using Essence, you can fuse them with the SMTV protagonist to customize his skills and affinities. You can essentially build and customize the protagonist’s build to your liking. Demon fusing also comes with new useful features. For example, “Enhanced Summon” is when you summon a demon in battle and raise a random stat by one rank. These encompass skills that help out during battles, negotiation outcomes, fusions, skill potentials, and stat-building.
