As we inch ever closer to the release of Shovel Knight Showdown, we’ve continued to get a peek at the complete roster of the chaotic multiplayer brawler thanks to a series of videos being released by developers Yacht Club Games. The latest armor-clad combatant to be featured in the spotlight is Mole Knight.
Don’t let the adorably rotund shape of this stout fighter fool you into thinking he’s a softie. Mole Knight is a fire-flinging, rock-drilling menace who is not to be taken lightly. His claw swipe is a fast attack with a flaming afterimage that’ll leave you feeling the hurt, while his belly slide acts as a great way to close the distance, traverse long gaps, and sweep any unsuspecting foes off their feet. His spiral drill attack is incredibly versatile, letting him either poke at enemies from below or dive down into the ground to avoid conflict and move through the dirt with his burrowing ability. Finally, Mole Knight can erupt into a fierce flame that damages anyone who touches him, easily making him one of the most dangerous opponents in Shovel Knight Showdown.
Shovel Knight Showdown is set to include over 16 playable combatants to duke it out across various iconic stages from the original game. Up to four players can fight together in competitive free-for-alls or team battles, as well as more unique modes like Gem Clash and Showdown. Fight for your honor in one-on-one duels as or dive into Story Mode to experience unique multistage journeys for each of the playable characters in the game.
Shovel Knight Showdown is set to launch as a free update to Shovel Knight and a standalone release this December. It will come to Nintendo Switch, Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, and Amazon FireTV.
