Spectre Knight Shovel Knight Showdown trailer

While Shovel Knight might not be playable in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (yet), fans of the blue armor-clad warrior will soon be able to enjoy brawling as him in his own standalone arena fighter. Shovel Knight Showdown is set to arrive soon as a free update for the Shovel Knight game and even a standalone release. Now, we’ve got a character highlight trailer for one of the coolest combatants in the game, Specter Knight.

Previously the protagonist of his own Shovel Knight story adventure, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, the spooky scythe wielder brings all of his familiar moves and abilities to the brawling action of Shovel Knight Showdown. He can use his iconic weapon to slash at opponents on the ground or leap through the air with a Dash Slash. He can also use his Hover Plume to gently glide through the air. If you want even more maneuverability options, Specter Knight can even wall-climb and wall jump. Finally, he can use his tiny throwing sickles to deliver damage from afar.

Shovel Knight Showdown is set to include over 16 playable combatants to duke it out with across various iconic stages from the original game. Up to four players can duke it out together in competitive free-for-alls or team battles, as well as more unique modes like Gem Clash and Showdown. Fight for your honor in one-on-one duels as well, or dive into Story Mode to experience unique multistage journeys for each of the playable characters in the game.

Shovel Knight Showdown is set to launch as a free update to Shovel Knight and a standalone release this December on Nintendo Switch, Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, and Amazon FireTV.
