Last week, we reported that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will vaguely feature “various quality-of-life enhancements.” Now, a new “Quality of Life Trailer” for Skyward Sword HD reveals more specifically what to expect from this Zelda remaster.
We already knew about the “enhanced controls options,” as series producer Eiji Aonuma did a gameplay deep dive back in February. However, we get a close look at the use of items such as the bow and bombs in the Skyward Sword Quality of Life Trailer. Additionally, the game will have an “enhanced frame rate for smoother gameplay,” and it sure seems like it’s targeting 60 FPS. Skyward Sword HD will also allow you to fast-forward dialogue, which will be especially useful for repeat playthroughs, and cutscenes can now be skipped as well. Item information has been streamlined to give a better understanding of what an item does, and it no longer appears if you’ve collected it at least once.
Lastly, probably the biggest and most welcome change to Skyward Sword HD outlined in the Quality of Life Trailer is that Fi’s advice is optional now, allowing you to react as you see fit. The original version was notorious for holding your hand at times, which became especially annoying if you wanted to figure things out for yourself. Although, this change may mean that Fi won’t remind you about your controller battery level.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches on July 16, 2021, alongside the Zelda & Loftwing amiibo and limited-edition Joy-Con controllers. Are you excited to revisit Skyloft?
