Of the 16 games announced for Nintendo Switch early Monday morning, Slay the Spire is one of them. Developed and released by Mega Crit Games on PC in 2017, the game mixes turn-based action with card collecting and deck-building. The plot of the game requires players to venture up a spire filled with various creatures and pathways. However, the types of paths you choose contain different types of enemies, boss battles, and relics.
The game offers two types of paths to take as you ascend further up the spire, an easy path, and a difficult, more dangerous one. Each path contains a different layout. Along the way, relics can be collected to power-up your deck and give it a boost during battles.
There are over 200 cards to build your deck from and over 100 different items to collect as well. Since its release on Steam last year, over 1 million copies of Slay the Spire have been sold. The Switch version of the game is scheduled to be released in early 2019.
