Just yesterday, WayForward revealed the beautiful opening animation for Shantae 5, which was created by Studio Trigger. It’s a really vivacious piece of work, enough to perk up a person’s day. But the internet is full of eagle-eyed people who won’t stop at just going, “Ooo, yes, nice teaser.” Nope, people just had to freeze frame the video and notice one thing: a freakin’ window that is shaped nearly identically to the Super Smash Bros. logo. Check it out in our featured image above.
To be clear, that window is not the same as the Smash Bros. logo. It’s actually been flipped. You can check out the real series logo below. But that isn’t stopping a lot of Twitter from losing their marbles over this blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.
Personally, I think the case of the almost-logo showing up in the Shantae 5 opening animation is just a big a coincidence. I have a hard time imagining WayForward whispering in Studio Trigger’s ear to hide a facsimile of the Super Smash Bros. logo somewhere in their 30 seconds of animation.
Of course, I could be wrong. I was absolutely convinced we would not see Banjo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and we all know how that turned out. So hey, Shantae fans, don’t give up. Cross your fingers and hope that I’m 0-2 for my predictions!
