Smash Bros. Ultimate is a celebration of not only Nintendo but video game history. From Mario to Mega Man to Final Fantasy, multiple franchises are represented with the utmost care being given to their legacies. And in the honor of everything the game represents, fans show their adoration through various means. Such is the case with artist Daniel Cortes. This individual decided to take it upon himself to envision the combatants of Smash Bros. Ultimate, Cuphead style.
I’d take a Smash Bros. Ultimate Cuphead video game, come to think of it
For those unaware, Cuphead is a run and gun title animated in the style of 1930’s cartoons, also known as rubber hose animation. Cortes has emulated this technique beautifully, as you can see in some examples below:

Props to that last drawing in particular. It reminds me of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Yes, nostalgia has quite a pull on me.
Enthusiasts, what do you think of Cortes’ creations? Are you a fan of rubber hose animation and Cuphead? Will you buy a copy of Smash Bros. Ultimate Cuphead once Nintendo reaches out to Daniel for a collaboration? Let us know your thoughts in the comment field below.
