Sniper Elite 4 Switch Nintendo Switch Rebellion Developments World War II Italy sniping shooter

During today’s Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, Rebellion Games revealed that Sniper Elite 4 would finally be launching on Switch this holiday season, both in physical and digital forms. News of its development first came early last year, when Rebellion announced it was porting the excellent Sniper Elite V2 Remastered and Sniper Elite 3 to Switch.

Sniper Elite 4 continues the story of sniper Karl Fairburne as he heads to Italy in 1943 to fight against a new threat to Allied forces. As a sniper, you must take a more tactical approach to combat, sneaking around and patiently picking off your targets. A staple of the franchise, the X-Ray kill cam makes a triumphant return, allowing you to see just what impact your bullets have on your foes. HD Rumble support should elevate this to the next level as you can feel the impact of each bullet. For those who like motion controls, the added gyroscopic aiming can also help get your bullets precisely where you want them.

Though the main draw of Sniper Elite is its single-player campaign, you have options if you don’t want to play alone. Sniper Elite 4 offers a variety of cooperative modes (including a co-op campaign) for up to three other players. But if competitive is more your style, Rebellion has you covered as well, with modes featuring up to eight players.

In a holiday season that’s currently looking a little light for Switch, Sniper Elite 4 is almost sure to keep me company on family road trips. I’m certainly looking forward to it, and I hope you are too. And, if you’re looking to catch up on the series before diving in, both Sniper Elite 2 Remastered and Sniper Elite 3 are available so you can start practicing your sharpshooter skills now!
