Just a few days ago at Gamescom 2019, Saber Interactive showed off SnowRunner (formerly known as Spintires MudRunner 2). Despite its predecessor, Spintires: MudRunner – American Wilds having come to Switch in late 2018, the reveal of SnowRunner only mentioned it coming to the PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2020. Thus, it appeared the Switch had been left out this time around. But, it turns out a Switch version might actually be happening—maybe?
A muddy mistake or a sneaky reveal?
What you’re looking at is a screenshot I took of the game’s new Instagram account. Saber Interactive promises to release a lot of news on SnowRunner’s development throughout the next few months leading up to launch, and this news will be shared across the various social channels. As you can see in the description, there’s a “#Switch”. Clicking on the first post, however, shows that the same hashtag is strangely not present.
This discrepancy does make the situation rather weird. As mentioned before, there’s been no mention of a Switch version in any of the current PR material. The first post shown above reflects this. So, that random #Switch in the profile description could have just been a mistake by whoever is running the new account. However, the account has been up for more than a day at this point, and #Switch is still there (as of the time of writing).
Given the circumstances, we’ll just have to wait and see if and when Saber officially comes out and provides a comment.
