With giant jack-o’-lanterns, pumpkin scarecrows, and ominously still autumn air, Sonic Adventure 2‘s famous Pumpkin Hill level is one of the most recognizable Halloween-y video game levels out there. Even though the game is nearly two decades old, Pumpkin Hill is one of the most popular areas in what is still widely considered one of the only great Sonic the Hedgehog games. As such, it is no surprise that Sega is leaning into it this holiday, but leaning into it with a brand new remix of the level’s famous rap is damn cool in my book. The remix comes straight from the track’s original composer, Tomoya Ohtani. Give it a listen below!
This reimagining of the classic bangin’ track is not the only Pumpkin Hill love we have seen this month. Last week, Sega shared new artwork of the level featuring Cream the Rabbit trying to hold it together in pumpkin paradise. Gotta keep the Sonic Adventure 2 train rolling!

What do you think of the remix? Will you have it on loop for a while? Revisiting retro game tracks never gets old, and brand new iterations make it even more fun to stroll down memory lane for games like Sonic Adventure 2. For that reason, I would love to see more reimaginings like this. Perhaps Grant Kirkhope will be compelled to drop a new take on Banjo-Kazooie‘s Mad Monster Mansion? Probably not, but I can hope.
