It seems that Sega is gearing up for a big year ahead of it. 2021 marks Sonic the Hedgehog’s 30th anniversary as Sega’s famous mascot, and the company has big plans for his upcoming birthday. We already reported on the Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia, which will cover the last 30 years of Sonic, and now Sega of America has announced what other merchandise is coming.
The first wave of 30th anniversary licensed products will hit store shelves this December. Although Sega hasn’t specifically noted what order the products will release in, it has provided a list of what to expect.
Funko Pop! vinyl figures will be coming, because of course they will, alongside toys and collectibles from Jakks Pacific, along with Sonic-themed enamel pins from FiGPiN. There’s also an apparel line inbound from Graph Gaming in spring 2021. If you fancy donning yourself with Sonic jewelry, manufacturer King Ice has you covered “with 3D design and hand-set stones and quality craftsmanship,” and IDW is to release a classic Sonic comic and mini-series. Oh, and there’ll be a G Fuel “Peach Rings”-flavor energy drink too.
Of course, this is just the beginning as we’re expecting big things from Sonic the Hedgehog next year. That will of course include actual games, and Sega will reveal more on the anniversary and merchandise in the coming months.
