The Splatoon 2 Splatfest revival just keeps on going, and there’s another one coming amidst recent Mario news. Nintendo has been re-running old Splatfest events throughout 2020, and the latest is a Mario-themed affair. You can now pick between Team Super Mushroom and Team Super Star, ahead of the event going live.
Things then kick off on Friday, Jan. 15 at 5 p.m. ET, running over the course of the upcoming weekend. The usual categories will then decide the overall winner, based on player votes along with the outcome of the weekend’s normal and pro matches. Let’s see which Mario power-up the community thinks is superior.
There’s an added bonus for those of you in North America too. If you register for the Splatoon 2 Mario Splatfest online challenge beforehand and then take part in the event, you’ll be entered into a prize draw. The winners will receive a neat Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary coin. To come out on top and get the prize, you’ll need to place in the top 35 players for either Team Super Mushroom or Team Super Star.
And if you’re participating in the Splatfest don’t forget to register for the Splatoon 2 Splatfest Online Challenge below for a chance to win a Super Mario Bros. 35th Anniversary coin!

Nintendo is going big with the famous plumber’s 35th birthday celebrations then. We’ve seen the likes of Super Mario 3D All-Stars drop, along with the upcoming Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. These smaller events are also a nice way of making the birthday feel like a year-long celebration.
Which team will you choose?
