E3 2021 will be a “reimagined, all virtual” event this June, but we can now expect to see new game announcements from Square Enix at the expo. Company president Yosuke Matsuda revealed in an interview with Nikkei that Square Enix would be at the event this year.
When asked about any anticipated new titles coming in 2021, Matsuda started by mentioning that the previously delayed Outriders launched on April 1, 2021. Also coming this month is NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…, the updated version of the 2010 action RPG by Yoko Taro. That’s not all — Square Enix has another big release coming in June with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade for PlayStation 5.
The Square Enix CEO added, “As for our lineup beyond that, I believe we’ll have several announcements to make, and we also have announcements planned for E3 2021 this June, so please look forward to that.”
Earlier this month, the Entertainment Software Association announced its plans for E3 2021. The first publishers that committed to the event included Nintendo, Xbox, Capcom, Konami, Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive, Warner Bros. Games, and Koch Media. Following the cancellation of E3 2020 last year, Square Enix explored other options to share game announcements. We can expect to get a closer look at NEO: The World Ends with You, slated to release this July for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
