Star Wars Episode I: Racer

Star Wars Episode I: Racer was delayed by publisher Aspyr last month rather unceremoniously, occurring just one day before the game’s originally intended release date of May 12. At that time, the only reasoning given was, “Unfortunately, due to the ongoing work from home requirements across the industry, the game will be further delayed on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.” However, the bad times are over (well, if you completely ignore the whole catastrophic state of the world), because Aspyr has announced a new release date of June 23 for Star Wars Episode I: Racer on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.

When the game is finally yours to love and cherish, it will include 25 racers, race tracks across eight worlds, upgradeable podracers, and split-screen multiplayer. This racer of course originally released on Nintendo 64 back in 1999 alongside the release of The Phantom Menace, which has long been hailed among critics and fans alike as the most critical piece of filmmaking since Citizen Kane. And now on Nintendo Switch, you will get to re-experience what it’s like to be Anakin Skywalker cruising Tatooine, buying parts, and, uh… being a slave, I guess. Man, when you’re a kid, you don’t stop and assess how dark stories are sometimes.

Let us know if you’ll be picking up Star Wars Episode I: Racer on its for-sure June 23 release date.
