Zynga has at last released the first gameplay trailer for Star Wars: Hunters, a free-to-download arena multiplayer game headed to Nintendo Switch and mobile in 2022. The game is being developed by NaturalMotion and Boss Alien in partnership with Lucasfilm Games, and it is set after the fall of the Galactic Empire. The new trailer reveals what it’s like when two teams of four take to “The Arena” on planet Vespaara to fight it out for money and glory. And basically, it looks exactly how you would expect a Star Wars arena battling game to look, with dynamic environments inspired by famous series locations.
A cinematic trailer and additional details released back in September outlined the colorful cast of characters you can play as, with one of the standouts definitely being “Utooni,” which is one Jawa standing on top of another Jawa. Meanwhile, the new Star Wars: Hunters gameplay trailer hopes to highlight “each individual combatant’s unique fighting style – Rieve and J-3DI’s lightsaber wielding expertise, Zaina and Sentinel’s deadeye blaster accuracy, Imara Vex’s arsenal of bounty hunting weaponry, Grozz’s brute strength, the cunning tech of Slingshot’s droideka and Utooni’s resourceful use of scavenged scraps.”
Star Wars: Hunters does not have a concrete release date on Nintendo Switch and mobile yet, but it has already soft-launched in some regions on Android and will soft-launch early next year on iOS. The game will include cross-platform play when it launches, and you can pre-register for the game to unlock exclusive items
