There’s something strange in the neighborhood, something weird and it don’t look good, then you want to call the right guys for the job. In late May, publisher Mad Dog Games and Saber Interactive announced a surprise remaster of 2009’s Ghostbusters: The Video Game. As it turns out, the remaster almost couldn’t come out at a better time (almost).

From an exclusive scoop at IGN, it’s now confirmed that Ghostbusters will launch on October 4. They didn’t just nab a release date, as they also got footage of the Stay Puft boss fight!

Lauded as the Ghostbusters 3 that never came and voiced by the original movie’s lead actors, the game was generally well received at the time of its release and hailed as a love letter for fans of the films. At the time, the original game was developed by Terminal Reality under publisher Atari. Atari filed for bankruptcy in 2013 and gone through some heavy restructuring since then, leading up to the new Atari CVS system shipping early next year.

As a reminder, the physical editions of Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered will launch as a GameStop exclusive. Did you enjoy the 2009 original? Are you looking to double-dip into the remaster? Share your thoughts with us below!
