Story of Seasons: Reunion at Mineral Town remakes a GBA Harvest Moon

Story of Seasons: Reunion at Mineral Town is coming to Nintendo Switch from Marvelous. The game is actually a remake of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town from Game Boy Advance, released in 2003. In turn, Friends of Mineral Town was kind of a remake of Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on PlayStation 1. Do you follow?

The announcement was made in Famitsu (via Siliconera). Story of Seasons: Reunion at Mineral Town will release in Japan on Oct. 17, 2019, but there are no international release announcements yet.

The uninitiated might be wondering how a Story of Seasons game could possibly remake a Harvest Moon game. The reason is that they’re the same series. The name just changed as a result of the Harvest Moon name being owned by Natsume. So now SoS and HM coexist, with Harvest Moon almost being a weird shadow doppelganger of itself. It’s pretty meta.

In any case, if you can’t wait for more farming simulation on Switch, you’re in luck. Doraemon Story of Seasons is headed to Switch in North America this fall. There’s a trailer floating around for it, if you’re interested.

Let us know if you have your fingers crossed that Story of Seasons: Reunion at Mineral Town comes west.
